What’s new at the estate
Our rental season kicked off to a busy start this past spring with Mesa Del Sol hosting a number of reunions, birthdays, and the occasional weddings through summer.
An increasing number of our bookings are repeat guests, who are anxious to come back to enjoy the property and all that Arroyo Seco offers. Mesa Del Sol does not disappoint.
Since March 2021, when we purchased the estate, we have made significant upgrades to the working infrastructure – including an added power supply and a new well pump to keep water flowing.
While the beloved and iconic Mesa Del Sol water tower still sits in all her glory, overlooking the estate and honoring her legacy, we realized she had seen better days over the years. The old girl was finally retired with the installation of three large water storage tanks, more than doubling our capacity. Now nobody will go without a shower.
Saving the best for last, we now have a heated pool that sits comfortably at 85 degrees! No need for wetsuits anymore.
What’s new at the vineyard
The vineyard is off to an excellent and early start thanks to lots of heat during the day and cool temperatures at night. We expect an early harvest beginning with our Sangiovese in late August and ending with our Zinfandel in late September, all while maintaining our organic and sustainable farming practices.
What’s new at the winery
We just bottled our 2021 Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, and we must say: they’re our best whites yet!
Both wines are aged in stainless steel for 9-10 months. The Sauvignon Blanc boasts a citrusy flavor with a unique minerality and lighter body than our 2020 vintage. It makes for the perfect picnic wine on a warm summer day.
Our Chablis-style Chardonnay shows hints of citrus blossom, pear, and apple with acidity that is classic for the region. Strikingly complex in its youth, this is an incredibly versatile wine. Enjoy it with charcuterie, salads, or grilled fish.
The 2021 red varietals have been in neutral oak barrels for close to a year now, and will remain there for another 9 months to achieve a bolder, yet well-balanced flavor profile. These wines hold a special place in our hearts since they are the first we’ve been able to produce from grape to glass since buying the vineyard. So naturally, we couldn’t resist a little barrel tasting to check up on them!
We are very pleased with the way these wines are aging and look forward to bottling them in the spring of 2023.
Earlier this year, we labeled our 2018 vintages, which had been aging gracefully in the cellar since bottling. We are pleased to offer this new release of Syrah, Zinfandel, Grenache, and Sangiovese.
These wines are well-aged, balanced, and ready to drink – though they can be cellared for years to come. In celebration of this release, we’re offering a 10% discount on these exceptional reds. That’s in addition to our half and full case discounts, which are automatically applied at checkout. So hurry up and reserve yours while they last!
That’s all for now folks. Stay tuned for more news and special offers in the coming months.
The best is yet to come!
