Our Story
Arroyo Seco is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located about 20 miles inland from Big Sur. Straddling the Santa Lucia mountain range and the Western edge of Salinas Valley, the region is one of California’s earliest recognized AVAs.
The Gorge – where Mesa del Sol is perched – shelters the vineyards from gale winds and captures the coastal fog to cool our grapes. The river canyon is also known for its shallow, stoney soil, which forces the vines’ roots deep into the earth. The result is wines with a cowpoke’s pluck and a puma’s grace.
